Paraphernalia was founded created by me, Mandi, I had the opportunity to take over an empty shop around the time of redundancy in my then job- way back in 1997. I had the chance to do something I was passionate about- Sales and Clothes. A friend , also a fellow shopaholic in Chelsea had many designer items, not worn or worn once she wanted to sell.. This was before the days of eBay and social media! I had an empty shop and lots of inspiration as well as the passion to create my own business; a 'Dress Agency'. I called it 'Paraphernalia'- meaning bits and pieces.
I will always remember that first delivery of her Designer pieces to my shop! It was AMAZING! Boxes full of high-end luxury pieces: Versace dresses, Prada shoes, Armani Suits, Dior Heels. Christmas had come early. I filled the rails and did my first window and Paraphernalia was born.
Being a bigger girl I could only keep a few items (which is probably best as they wouldn't have made it onto the shop floor!) I did keep a very special piece which i will treasure always- my green Fendi wrap- an oversized green felt wrap with fur trim. I love it!
My friend soon introduced me to lots of her friends and Paraphernalia went from strength to strength... and continues to do so now. We are celebrating our 23rd Birthday this year!
We have added many different looks and labels- including new, nearly new, vintage and freestyle. I like change, I've embraced it and now taking the next step with our online store. Enjoy!
